Red Sunday.

My watch is a christian. well at least it looks that way. Cos it shows the date as well and time. And the word Sunday is the only red word on the watch. its like it knows the day is special and reminding me to take it easy. i always look forward to sunday, and seeing that special red word on my watch..
the last week has been VERY busy... so many things have been going on its hard to catch a breather and enjoy the things scenery. The stuff that happens because I put effort into it.
wow.
Recap.
For 3 days, Mon to Wednesday was one complete essay brainwashing writing session. i kinda got used to the Australia, Asia and the Pacific course... now i just have to get used to 3 more..
I finally did my essay the night before it was due! great!
actually the tutorial wasnt so bad.. had tons of food! wow! they really knew how to win me over!
And then throughout the week i had to gear up for the Evangelistic Nite for OCF!
so i was in this show... and i was supposed to play the MAN Himself!! omgoodness!! plus i was the only one who actually had to memorise his lines! but it was fun..
Other days consisted of trying to get my stupid TFN done... sigh I think the Malaysian ''man man lai'' system got adopted here.. !!!
12.04. Today. The guys just left my room... had pizze, food... pity no drinks. also talked about getting into frisbee again! yes!! i miss it soo much!!
Anyway. back to last week.. E Nite for OCF was great! met lots off food, and ate lots of people!! and then later didnt sleep till the next day cos early morning had to cook for Mamak Day! oh wow!! and Mamak day was really great.. great food as well!
I think one of the things that made it so hectic last week was the people... it was really good talking to and meeting new people..fellowship with other people and stuff. i could blog on and on about all the wonderful people and the meaningful conversations i had but that would take too long. but i guess in the end it kinda makes me mentally drained.. although spending time with God helps. Haha and then yesterday had lots of room visiting and food..its always about the food.
Aiyo... i had soo many things to blog about.. but i guess i forgot bout it after the guys came over just now.its really sad that i can only blog once in a while.. but i also need to slot in time to study! must pray that i study more!!! oh well..

Thanks for putting up with this crappy blog, but i need to freshen up for next week! time to sleep...

Kuhn's paradigms

if you dont know what it means, look it up on google.
cos thats the sort of junk i have to wade through everyday (among other things!)

so sad... i cant post as often as i'd like, cos of stupid tutorials and classes, etc. so i cant tell you all about the wonderful barnite on friday, the canceled bus bar crawl, the first ocf meeting and meeting lots of new and great ppl..
oh well.

life sucks.
no, wait, it doesnt. i just have more responsibilities!
life is great. I mean it!

for those of you who are bogged down with work and crap and stuff, read Psalm 145

....14The Lord upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.

....17The Lord is righteous in all his ways and loving toward all he made.

so, humble yourselves before God.
Love him with all your heart, walk in His ways...and He will direct your path.

till next time!

Christmas in July?!?!

Its was supposed to snow today!!! the stupid weather is horrible! its freezing cold, but no snow!! i mean, whats the point of going below zero but theres no snow?!?! i was taught in school that ice freezes at 0 degrees!! argh!!

yesterday was the night of our Christmas in July dinner. Apparantly Ursies got too much money so spend on some holiday thats half a year away haha! As a warm-up to the dinner, there was this door decorating competition. but me being too lazy, didnt bother... anyway. i pooled my resources with Daryl and Don and decorated Don's door instead!!! fuiyoooo...masterpiece man...
its like the Sistene Chapel, only this is The Door...
Sure win one!

And then we were supposed to buy gifts for under privileged children. i think most asian ppl are too stuck in a mindset. you know how all those old people keep telling their kids to study la, read la...all my friends bought stationary for the kids!!! it was like crayons, colour pencils, aiyo....i mean... how would you feel if it was your birthday and EVERYONE bought you brushes??? so sad... at least i was more creative, i bought them some playing cards.. sigh...

Dinner was oklo...not that bad. maybe a notch or two better than the usual. Again the pressure was on me to create the impossible costume out of the stuff i already have. I improvised and brought my moose along to dinner haha. for that night it was a reindeer. It was random seating, but i was lucky to sit with Soi Yon. after dinner some aussies went to mooseheads, but most of us stayed back. it was too cold! and sommore hoping it would snow....!
Our door didnt win!!! yeam won it instead!! i think the judges all biased or something... if anythin ithink Chie should win!!! her door much nicer anyway... haha!
I had a great time using my new cam. so happy i bought it!!

In the end i dont think any of us felt infused with the christmas spirit...to me it was just a nother excuse to dress up and have fun. i guess christmas only comes with th snow, or during the real christmas time! argh!!!! still not snowing!!!

Too fast to stop

Its regrettable that when there are things that we want to do mos, time doesnt allow it. Like now. I mean, i promised myself that i would take my own sweet time to produce a lovely articulated blog before classes start (tommoro!) but i've got to go down to see China vs Iran in soccer. i think iran willl win..
oh well.lets get this over with.

I flew here on the 11th, Weds. Hmm.. Changi airport is HUGE. not huge like the empty shell of KLIA, but it has tons of stuff to do in it!! Theres like a mega shopping mall, a walk in cinema, a swimming pool. oh and of course they have airplanes. No wonder it got voted best airport in the world (yet another achievement that singapore boasts consistently on their webpage) Klia should take a lesson and learn that bigger is not always better. especially when their services scuk!

This time, i was seated next to umm one old man and one girl from uk. which was better than my other flights, but still... i got the crappy middle seat AGAIN! flight to sydney was great, but food was lousy. i made good time, like about 30 minutes earlier.
Would you believe it? theres bloody FOG in Canberra! it got so bad they had to delay my flight for 3 hours!! after being stuck in the stupid waiting lounge with nothing to do (Sydney airport should also learn from Changi) finally we got in that propeller plane and was off to Canberra!
Oh how i missed Canberra! everything from the weather...ok just the weather.
The food at Ursula is still bad. i mean, you never really realize it until you've been away to better pastures (like malaysian food!)

And there were new people too! its like ages ago since i was a freshie.. ok, i still am, but i'm a higher ranked freshie, if that makes any sense.. haha! so being the gracious host, i took some singaporeans out jalan jalan to the local haunts. And i forgot to bring my hp charger+bunny bag + shoes from home!!! argh!!
Lucky me i managed to get one from Civic...sigh..
Oh yeah! my room is gorgeous now! Its like a really comfort/playground zone type setting now. At least thats the look i was aiming for.

Classes start tomoro! i cant believe it!its too soon! i still have tons of procedures to go through, things to do, clean my wardrobe. and i've got MORE hours this time! nooooooooo!!!
But i guess thats it.
Annnd thats 5 Days in a 5 minute reading... gotta go watch football now! i prob wont blog as often as i'd like, but no choice lo, sem is starting and stuff. ok bye.

Grand Finale : How 2 Conker M'sia In 17 Daze

Its half past 12 midnight!!! I cant belive i'm heading back tomorrow. I feel like part of the furniture here... i'll miss home sooo much!! but oh well the joy of fitting in a second home is always felt the second time we go back. Like when i was in Inti, i still remember all the stupid packing of essantials and clothes and whatnot to gett all of the important stuff there. Then then second time i went home i brought back more stuff. and this time it felt better
  1. cos i was already comfortable there
  2. cos i brought more stuff from home, to add my touch to the place!!
ok, so half of my old room belonged to my roommate.. and i cant exactly say that i liked seeing Steven Gerard's poster every time i woke up....

The last time i left off, it was on the 7th, Sat and i was going down to Singapore to see Janene! hmm..it was fun! I went to this place called Yoshoku and Island Creamery?? (Any Singaporeans help me out with this!) Island creamery was delicious! they had cakes and dessert and stuff..but enough about singaporean food. Was really sad when the day had to end. So we gave Janene her usual stuff (food, Time magazines) and some not so usual stuff (digi cam, handphone [courtesy of me!]) And i even got a coffee maker to take back to Canberra! wohoo! now i can make hot drinks at night...

the next day dad took me and Joel out for some old-town style lunch!! I soooo missed the place!! where else can you find wantan mee with toast kaya/butter bread with old white coffee?? i almost decided to become kitchen helper to Ah Tan and quit being a student...i get better food! SYIOK! BEST! Next time any one of you come to Segamat, look me up!! i'll definitely bring you here..but you're paying, of course.

9th Sun. por por came down to segamat!!! yahoo!! as dad says, my, ahem, financial minister paid me a visit. not to mention chef!! She brought my favourite Chong (rice dumpling with magical flavours inside). She even brought a whole DUCK from Petaling Street! Leave it to grandmothers to find a way to transport dead animals in a train without stinking the place up...Needless to say my stomach expanded like crazy over the next few days... i also dono if its torture or pleasure or both...siao.. OMgoodness there was also roast spice chicken, bamboo shoots cooked with pork, Chinese veggie, special soup ( i dono wats in it), steam fish...etc.etc...
I just KNOW i'm gonna cry in canberra everytime i think about it... I MISS THE FOOD!!!

Ahem..por por is also my financial minister...call her a walking atm, or a living wallet, or a money tree, its all the same. I just absolutely love/adore/sayang my Psycho watch!!!!! (spelled Seiko)
I bet joel likes his too.. Thanks a hundred thousand times por por! i swear, when i get a job i'll get you one of those Osim massage chairs that can massage like professional masseuse on steroids....

And then the highlights of going back are the stuff i'm bringing back! i got a bean bag, among other stuff, to make my kecil room that bit more comfy..
Oh yea need to charge those Jason who asked me to buy a mouse...its taking up precious weight quota!! if i kena fine, i'm gonna charge him....:P

And today its finally the 11th Wed. I'll miss this place sooooo much!! and russell too! and everything. and the Wii. and the food. and the bed... and the....too much to mention.
So ends SEVENTEEN DAYS in Malaysia. Did i conquer it? i'd like to think i did.. but that nagging feeling of not going to penang and JB says i didnt. But i did get to meet tons of friends, family, food..
So i guess the most important things are family, friends, food and stuff, not necessarily in that order. Next time i come back, its gonna be a a huge diff. Friends will be gone, family will change, food shops might move away.

So i guess its goodbye this time, M'sia. Thanks for all the lovely memories.I'll be back for more!

Of heat and hypocrites.

Its ssooooo bloody hot!!! STUPID freakin @#$@#% Malaysian weather!!! I guess i never really noticed how HOT it is till i went away... I've caught a cold and sore throat because of the blistering HEAT!! Okay, maybe it was the food that did it but i rather blame something thats not my fault... haha! Everyday its like an OVEN in this stupid Sauna trap!!! argh!!! I feel like a roasted pig!! only i'm not fat and i'm not a pig...
I used to dream of it snowing here in Malaysia... how all the padi fields would die, all the plantations would freeze over... basically our economy grinding to a halt..but i dont care! haha! as long as its cool and nice. i mean, i dont hear any eskimos complaining they dont have padi for rice or rubber exports.. we can all just eat whale blubber anyway..

Warning: sensitive reading. Dont read if have asthma.
Sometimes i dont like going to church. i mean not that i dont like church in itself, its cos of the people there. I can kind of sympathize with non-christians who dont like church cos they say its full of stuffy upper crust people who just want your money. I'm not saying every church is like that, just certain ones. I really love my hometown church, and i adore our cosy one in Canberra.
I still remember one church where the people would not talk to newcomers. only the pastor would do it. The congregation are so cold, and still wonder and pray why they cant expand?? One of the churches i love is St. Paul's Church somewhere in Malaysia. I have fond memories of the first time i visited there (for a camp!) and the kids there we're sincerely warm and friendly, like really wanted to know me and be friends.
It really left an impact on me, and I told myself thats what i want to be, who i want to be towards others. But sometimes its hard. especially for small-town churches.
I think in psycho its called group mentality? Sometime after the camp some other kids visited our church. I think i was one of the few who actually tried to be open. (cheh, puji sendiri....) i dont blame the other kids. its not cos they despised or were too proud, its cos they were too scared. or shy.
I call it comfort zone. after awhile they'll mix and be friends, but its always awkward in the beginning.but its this beginning that makes a lasting impression on other people! like it or not humans tend to judge others based on first impressions.
I dont really hate or blame small-town mentality (which cant be helped!) but the fact that some people dont do as they preach! pretend, put on a mask, but only for sunday. you're giving other christians a bad name! I'm not talking about any church in particular, just churches in general.
I know that even sometimes i fall into this trap. and i really hate it and feel bad when i do. everyone's not humanely perfect.but in God we are.
So to all those pretenders and mask-wearers out there, do what i do. Say sorry to God for not showing them unbiased love and ask for His strength (cos God knows its hard) then treat others with humility and...guess i've started preaching..so i'll stop here!

Long story short: often its not the people we see that are dirty, its our eyes that are clouded.

HTCMI17D Part 2.

2th Mon. Dad is going to Seremban for a meeting! that means 1 free ride for me to go hang around! wohoo!
10.am- arrived at train station, Yun Jin was there to pick me up. after lepaking at his shop for awhile I was off to INTI!!! ahh... home away from home....Canberra doesnt count yet, cos i hardly know the place. I missed EVERYONE from INTI! coincidently it was my lovers birthday!!! oh yea, that week had tons of other ppls birthdays too...
Of all the presents to buy, why a watch!??! and one Ultraman watch at that... After my (failed) surprise, we just talked and catched up.. so fun! The inti bakery really changed alot. but the foosball table is still broken haha! ANd what trip back wouldnt be complete without a killing spree? I still had 1 hour before Ken 1 and Joanne arrived, so i treated the lot to some CSing! Well.. lets just say that those hours shooting ppl in Canberra paid off! (no, i wont do a "korean killer" like in US...)
Hah! Kit Jing is no longer champ!
Later we went to YJ's place to lepak for awhile.. for dinner Nicholas, Yanyi and Chee WEi (no longer botak) joined us.. We ate at donno what chinese place..supposedly very nice food but what touched we was that they all belanja me! awww...they were supposed to anyway =)
Later we drove to PD!!! the beach was awesome!! the stars were even clearer than in Aus..and thats reallllly clear! (I say "clear" not "bright" cos in malaysia got haze hahahaha) We also visited the local beach dog Gucci. Dont ask me why but thats its name!
In PD there was this great Nasi Lemak stall... That was the first time I ate nasi lemak with lala! Not lala ppl but the shellfish one...it was great!
That nite we watched The Hills Have Eyes...for 20 minutes. Then we fell asleep. But of course we had to have a GC council meeting first!! catch up on all the latest 'news' first haha.....OMgoodness i didnt know A liked H before he liked G!!!!

3th Tues. Woke up and went to heaven. No, i didnt die, but its the name of the lovely dim sum restaurant i had for breakfast!...i think . We dropped yj off at inti before going Redboxing!!! Or was it Green...? The one at Cheras Jusco was Green.... oh well. I missed it sooo much!!! its been awhile since i last had so much fun making a fool out of myself haha..if i had to choose i'd stay in malaysia just for the redbox... Wan Wan and i said cried and hugged and said bye (brokeback mountain???)... jsut kidding.. but he dropped me and Joanne at Kajang station..
We went to Mid V for some fun. Well actually i think she had more fun cos i was like kuli carrying all the stuff.. nola, just jk! but i had fun. My first mint fag! lol. It was really sad when we had to separate.. but oh well we'll still see each other again..
One note: KTM SUCKS. The bloody stupid train driver doesnt know how to brake and must have been ta fei kei-ing when he stopped the bloody train!! We missed THREE ktms which cost us more than an hour!!! Damn that was disastrous.
Dinner was the best meal i had there... imagine: all you can eat steambot/hotplate for 18 bucks!! I think we took like 3kg per person of food.. luckily we managed to sneak some back! if not sure kena fine... sei lo! Finally we parted...and had to skip waffles bcos we were too full..i was going home the next day.
Back at YJ's place we chatted and the slept...prob the last nite at his place for me.

4th Weds. At INTI! i met with Tan J and the rest over lunch! i felt like i never left.. Then i saw Gilbert, Jiok Sin and K Kuen before i left..also was a pleasent surprise to see Raymond and some guy whom i forgot the name..but pretend to know la haha! Also saw Uie (correct spelling?) which was nice. Its really great to see how other ppls life go on, and how all the new faces treat me with awe cos I'm one of their seniors! muahaha!! Gosh i miss the frisbee club there.
Ah Kin sent me to the ktm. thanks! At some stupid lunch at Sermban Parade b4 i i took the train back..sayonara, everyone..Sorry if i forgot to mention some names... too many!

5.30 pm. Back! and then got 2 lovely surprises. Dad got me a Digi cam!! i love it!! Thanks dad!!! omgomgomgomg its beautiful!!!! and then my exam results came back; i got a HD!!! wow!!! i know... i'll prob get tons more in the future =P, but the first is always the most memorable...

6th Frid. Life goes on as it always does, and the events of this week seem like one distant memory. I'm going to Singapore tomorrow to go see Janene. heard shes grown taller. and found a bf! damn i cant lose lol. Por Por is coming down on saturday, so i can expect to be more financially "stable" when i go back to aussie. lol. Love you por por! no, really i do.

One of my regrets this break is that i cant go to jb to find tamy. but oh well, we chat and stuff. i miss you gal! But also half scared to come down cos of all the crime sprees and everything. YJ showed me some clippings of rape and murder cases in JB... scary!!! i dont want to get mugged on the streets! Thats why i need a place to stay!

Thus concludes the most memorable parts of my break; friends. Family is nice too, but i love my friends to bits. and if they know where to eat, even better!

How To Conquer Malaysia In 17 Days, Part 1.

Wee hoo!!! What a rush! its already past the middle mark of my winter holidays back in malaysia! Yes, i know.. ironic isnt it? Its bloody hot here. Or "warm" as the ang mo's will say. Omgoodness i could feel the heat on the KLIA tarmac..
Well, lets start on the 25th. The STUPID bus broke down!!! We were barely out of Canberra when the wheel made some funny bumps and sounds. So we had to stop and wait for another replacement bus to pick us up. Too bad for some people had to miss their flight because of the delay. Me? You know me, being patient and all, I just stuck my bean and pumped up the volume.
At the airport everything went smoothly... did it? apart from the fact that a certain MS. VIRGINIA GLOCKENPORT held up the ENTIRE airport!!! because she wasnt there for her flight, the flight couldnt take off, which consecutively affected other flights and important people (me!) How do I know her name? well, they were calling it every 10 seconds on the PA system!
Flight back was great! There was this hot girl apparently flying to London next to me. and we talked alot! MAS dinners are bad, i got one lousy sandwich which was hard and cold. Anyone who watched Pleasentville please dont tell me the ending! cos I watched it on the plane but didnt get to finish it..
Whre was I? oh yeah, touchdown! At the baggage collection area, i waited for like 20 minutes before they announced that the bags were in another area...stupid airport... And then there were some workers pretending to be busy. My friend once told me the reason they are called kakitangan kerajaan is becos they only use their kaki and tangans, not their brains HAHAHA!
Dad picked me up from the airport. And that was where I started my eating spree!

26th, Tues. Tampins famous fish noodles!plus all the yong tau foo and ikan bakar i could eat! I was off to a good start. Ikan bakar is one of God's gift to man...especially with lime and chilli juice on top...Banzai!!

I miss my bed!! and i miss russel!!! Ok, i missed my family too. Home was great! every night I ate snacks like chocolate, junk food, instant noodles, ice cream, cookies, biscuits... yes, even as I type this i'm munching on a few dozen bars of kit kat... love it!

27th, Weds. Wantan mee!!! OMgoodness how i missed it sooo much!!! I actually ate two packets for breakfast! thank you australia for giving me a huge appetite! Lunch I went out for KFC!!! Some of you may laugh cos i wasted my trip back for KFC... but to me, its a semi-pseudo-religion/tradition. I mean, i havent even eaten it once for half a bloody year!

Of course home cooked food is always the best, and that nights dinner was fabuloso, as they say in that washing powder commercial...Chinese cabbage with salted fish and fried pork.... lotus soup with seafood....i tell you, rice has never tasted so sweet...
Over the next week or so, I proceeded to sample (gobble?) up every bit of authentic Segamat food. Except durians, of course. (BTW, its durian season here) I still remember for 4 days in a row (2-5th July!) i tried 4 different chicken rice stalls for lunch... and I still want more! I can still taste the dim sum I had for breakfast, , min xin, char kuay teow made specially for me... (i kenal the tauke), authentic chinese food in a authentic chinese restaurant (especially the tradition of washing Fark and Spun in a bowl of boiling water)
Special mention must be made to Mc Donalds..I bought a Shrek cushion there!

Fast forward to 1st, Sun.Dad took the family out to Melaka! It was expected, but still lovely! Lets see if I can recall the dinner....shark fin with crab meat soup, fried prawns, assorted veg, steamed codfish, claypot herbal chicken, spring onion ostrich meat, and one other chicken dish.
Price? FREE! Like Mastercard says, the best things in life are free! Its cos we have all these dining vouchers and coupons that accumulated over the months. ENvy me! HAHA!

Apart from the food, there are tons of notable episodes... like the time when I went to Giant, or the bats in the attic, or playing the Wii (almost everyday!), or my stupid haircut, or just lazying about the house! its great. all of it. I love my family to bits!

Humid stupid weather

Guess where I am! In Seremban, in Yun Jin's house!! the ppl next to me are watching The Hills Have Eyes, which in my opinion, is another way for producers to find creative ways to kill people. Joanne and Ken Wan are talking about movies and stuff.
I came down today around 10 in the morning. And then I spent around 5 hours to celebrate my friends birthday in Inti. Tomorow going to have more fun in kajang and other places!
This is just a brief update on my blog and stuff... I'm still busy with the html and stuff, but hopefully it''ll be up and running when I get back to ANU. I loooove Malaysia especially its food. Till the next updat, ciao
